Katrinesminde originally began as a tenant farm under Øllingesøe Estate.
In 1891, Knud Frederik Theil purchased Katrinesminde. At that time, the land area amounted to approximately 177-acre. The property was bought from Knud Frederik Theil’s mother-in-law, Jacobine Clauseine Larsen, who had inherited the farm from her parents, Jørgen Larsen and Katrine Jacobsdatter — from whom the name Katrinesminde originates. Knud Frederik Theil built the present main house in 1898.
In 1927, the property was taken over by his son, Poul Henrik Bøgvad Theil, and it subsequently remained in the family for the following generations. In 1972, Torben Theil purchased Katrinesminde and initiated a development period during which the property was significantly expanded through the acquisition of neighboring farms.
In 2007, Poul Theil took over the property, which has since been operated as Katrinesminde Landbrug and continuously expanded in terms of acres. On January 1, 2026, a generational transition was completed, transferring Katrinesminde to the current owner, Katrine Theil Kruse. She represents the 9th generation on the farm and continues a family tradition spanning more than 200 years.
As of January 1, 2026, Katrinesminde becomes part of Agrifos.
